Princh – printing at Portsmouth libraries

Joining the public library is free and offers great opportunities for reading for pleasure, wellbeing, discover new interests and hobbies, and improve your language skills. It has been shown that anyone can broaden their vocabulary and pick up new and interesting tidbits to drop into conversations from reading more widely. Every student can join the public library – international students on a student visa that does not entitle them to access other public services are still welcome to join the public library.

The public library offers a huge variety of fiction, graphic novels, digital magazines, ebooks and audiobooks you can stream or download for free! As I’ll go on to explain, it also now boasts streamlined cloud-based printing services in every branch. Sign up for your free public library membership online.

Printing on the go across Portsmouth

The cheapest way to print anything is always to use the University’s printing services but there might be times you need to print something vital and cannot make it in to the campus. Or perhaps someone you know who isn’t a student needs to print something in a hurry. That’s where the public library service comes to the rescue!

You can now print anything through your local public library at competitive prices using a simple new cloud-based printing solution called Princh. Princh allows you to pay for printing, photocopying, and scanning at any public library branch across Portsmouth using the Princh app (available on the web and to download for iOS and Android). There are no user accounts, usernames or passwords. Simply send your documents to the unique printer ID displayed on a poster in your local public library branch, and your documents will print out immediately.

Paying for Princh services

You can pay online via Apple Pay, Google Pay or by entering your card details. Alternatively, you can pay in any public library branch with either cash or a card.

It’s cheaper for students to print at the University Library

I just want to remind you that while public library printing is a vital service for many, as one of our students, you get much cheaper printing at the University. We charge only 6 p per single-sided A4 sheet for colour printing and photocopying, while scanning anything up to A3 size is completely free.
