Combatting Piracy

Today new internet anti-piracy measures have been announced.

This writer was, in a previous job, involved in policing some of the darker corners of the Internet. One thing I learned was how easily the authorities can find out what you’ve been doing online if they want to. We’ve all seen TV shows where clever hackers outwit the best minds in law enforcement … but very few people have both the skills and resources to do this in real life.

If you think you’ve been getting away with downloading pirated material, keep in mind it’s largely because the authorities have not prioritised preventing it. That could change at any time.
