Preparing the ground for our new Student Hub

Works begin today preparing the ground for an exciting development project connecting the University Library and Students’ Union buildings and refurbishing the Students’ Union to create a new student hub.
Working with the Student Union, our new Student Hub will provide a vibrant, supportive and social student experience. The Hub will link the Library and the Student Union Building. This new building will provide spaces for social learning and well-being services, including a variety of student services, a student lounge, a coffee bar/ kitchen, a Student Union Shop and an exciting event space.
Seeking silence?
While the main building works are not expected to begin until later in the year, when they will be least disruptive, this preparatory work at the rear of the Library building in Ravelin Park might create some noise disturbance audible on this side of the Library. You can always ask for a pair of reusable sound-cancelling earplugs at the Reception Desk and find somewhere to study towards the front of the building. Mercifully, the roadworks at the front of the building are expected to have finished by the time the work at the rear of the building begins.
Building our future
This project is part of a wider programme investing £250 million over 10 years in developing our campus to create a sustainable, climate positive campus with the facilities needed for us to continue leading the world in teaching, innovation and research and offer you the best possible study experience at University.
