Would you like to have a passion for history and literature or want to pursue a career in the heritage and museum sector? Don’t miss a fabulous opportunity to volunteer at Gods House Tower in Southampton. Gods Tower are curating a new exhibition, “In training for a heroine” to celebrate Jane Austin’s 250th birthday, which will feature Jane Austen’s travelling writing desk. This writing desk. The desk was gifted to Jane Austen 230 years ago by her father, around the time of her 19th birthday. She later wrote many of her most famous works at this same desk.

Benefits of volunteering include:

  • Gaining exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the exhibition
  • Enhancing your CV with training and voluntary work experience in heritage and exhibition curation – you will play a key role in ensuring an excellent experience for visitors to the exhibition
  • Meeting professionals and others interested in the heritage world and begin to grow your professional network
  • Gaining volunteering hours towards the prestigious Portsmouth Award
