Sounds Beyond Music – free public talk

Sounds Beyond Music – free public talk

We are excited to announce that Dr John Kannenberg, Director & Chief Curator of the Museum of Portable Sound will be giving a free public talk at the closing of his exhibition in the University Library, Sounds Beyond Music, at 5.30 pm on Friday 26 January. John is a fascinating speaker, so please come along! John will be giving an introduction to the museum, playing some of the sounds in the collection, and offering a walkthrough of the Sounds Beyond Music exhibits from the Museums’ Physical Objects Collection.

The Sounds Beyond Music exhibition on the first floor of the Library until 26 January explores everything from our relationship to sounds to the development of sound technologies over the past century. If you haven’t seen it yet or are just joining us, please come in and take a look! If you are studying at a distance, we have captured some of the experience on our Display Space pages.

The event is FREE and open to staff, students and the public. Please come along and spread the word among colleagues and friends. Everyone is most welcome – staff, students and members of the public. If you are not a member of the University and don’t have a university card, please arrive early and bring a photographic ID. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Full details for members of the public are available on the Library website.

The Library is an accessible venue. Full details and a virtual tour are available on the Library website.
