Register and read: free articles from JSTOR

JSTOR are trialing a new service called “Register & Read” that gives free access to up to 3 articles every 14 days from a select range of journals if you sign up to their free Register & Read Service.

Here’s how it works:
  1. Sign up for a free MyJSTOR account – this typically takes only a minute or two.
  2. If you cannot get to the full text of a journal article, first try logging into JSTOR using the “Institutional login” option: the Library may well have paid for you to download the full version of the article but you need to be signed in before JSTOR will let you read the full article.
  3. If you still cannot access an article, if you sign into MyJSTOR, a ‘Read Online (free)’ button may appear next to the the article.  Click this button and you can add the article to your shelf to read. You can add up to 3 articles at a time, for a minimum of 14 days. After 14 days you can delete them and replace them with 3 different articles if you wish.

Article still not available?

If the article you want is not available through the Library or the JSTOR Register & Read Service, you can still request it as an interlibrary loan.  We can usually get articles delivered by email in a matter of days.
