StudyBlue: digital flashcards

flash cards photoStudyBlue is an app for creating digital flashcards and then use them to test your learning.  Research has shown that flashcards are the fastest and easiest way of learning new information and they are also an effective revision tool.  Creating flashcards involves identifying which elements of a topic are the most important and condensing/simplifying these to fit onto the cards.  When you then use flashcards to learn and revise, you have to use active recall to answer the question or explain the statement or diagram on one side of the card without any prompts or study guides to help you, before checking your answer on the other side of the card.

StudyBlue allows you easily to create digital flashcards and test yourself, building confidence through repeatedly tackling only those cards you found difficult to answer the first time around until you know you can answer them all easily.  It tracks your scores, monitors your progress, and allows you to work with others.
