National Student Survey launch

NSS 2016 logoThe National Student Survey (NSS) takes place this year between 18 January and 30 April.  It is important that you take part in the survey; it is an opportunity for you to tell the University about your experiences – and as the results are made publically available, it helps future students find out more about the University and the courses on offer.  Last year over 300,000 students nationally took part in this independent survey, including over 3,100 from Portsmouth.

The University’s role is to let students know about the survey and the types of questions it covers. We are not involved with collecting or analysing the data, we only receive an anonymised summary of the data later in the year.

The survey is open only to final year students.  If you have comments or suggestions for changes and improvements, please use the online suggestion box on the Library website or fill in a paper suggestion form and post it into the red post box in Area 0A of the Library.

For final year students

If you are a final year student this year, Ipsos MORI will send an email to your University email account inviting you to complete the survey.  If you do not wish to wait for the official invitation, you are welcome to go directly to the website to find out more and complete the survey.

Please select your institution as Portsmouth, University of. The survey should take between 5-10 minutes to complete.  Please remember when completing the NSS to reflect on all of your time at University, not just your final year, and please use the free text boxes to tell us what you really liked about your course or anything that we could further improve on.  Your feedback is very important to the University and our prospective students.

Prizes final year students could win by taking part

To encourage students to take part in the survey, the University is offering a prize draw that includes 6 x £250 Compliment Cards, 2 x £50 voucher towards University of Portsmouth branded sports kit, two pairs of Graduation Ball tickets plus 20 x £10 Pizza Hut vouchers. The prize draw will take place by IPSOS MORI shortly after the 30th April 2016 and DCQE will notify prize draw winners in due course.

To make completing the survey easier for you there will be a direct link embedded into your Moodle account.

Any questions

Finally, if you have any additional questions about the survey please email Dr Carolyne Jacobs (E: who oversees the survey for the University independently of any professional service, department or course.
