Referencing the British Pharmacopoeia
The following all applies to students of the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science who are using the Vancouver referencing system. If you are referencing the British Pharmacopoeia using another referencing system, please consult Referencing@Portsmouth or ask us for advice.
Referencing the printed version of the British Pharmacopoeia
An example of a reference for an entry in the printed British Pharmacopoeia is given in Referencing@Portsmouth.
Referencing the online version of the British Pharmacopoeia
The online version has recently changed its interface and the new version now quite closely follows the format of the printed book. We therefore suggest it be referenced as an ebook, using the bread crumbs across the top of the screen, use the following format (this example is for the section on “Chalk” as a medicinal substance retrieved on 8 October 2015):
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The British Pharmacopoeia, 2016. Monographs: Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Substances/Chalk [Internet]. London: The Stationery Office; 2015 [cited 2015 Oct 8]. Available from https://www.pharmacopoeia.com/bp-2016/monographs/chalk.html?published-date=2015-08-03
